Ridge splitting for horizontal augmentation and immediate mini implant placement

In this case report, we describe a case of horizontal ridge augmentation using ridge split and simultaneous implant placement in esthetic maxillary anterior zone.

A 42-year-old patient who lost her anterior teeth canine to canine in an accident 10 years earlier (Figure 1). Intraoral examination revealed buccolingual and apicocoronal loss of alveolar ridge in the anterior maxillary area; Sibert’s class II ridge deficiency.

Under general anesthesia, ridge split was performed using Piezosurgery, bone grafting using bovine bone substitute was made and immediate implants were placed (Figure 2).

After three months, we proceeded with the prosthetic placement (Figure 3).

The final restoration was made using PEEK as a core (due to its light weight) to substitute the apicocoronal bone loss and zirconia crowns (Figure 4).

Follow-up 14 months later (Figure 5).
