IMMEDIATE IMPLANT PLACEMENT IN UPPER CENTRAL INCISOR
This young patient with a gummy smile (excessive gingival display) was treated by the Department of the Master’s Degree in Oral Surgery and Implantology at the University of Valencia. Tooth 11 had a vertical fracture and had to be extracted. Following the extraction, an InHex standard implant (4.25 mm diameter and 13 mm length) was immediately placed in a palatal-oriented position. The gap was filled with a biomaterial, a connective-tissue graft was performed using an envelope technique and the socket was sealed with an epithelial-connective tissue graft. After 3 months, a temporary restoration was fitted which was used to model the soft tissue. The shape of the temporary was transferred to the permanent porcelain-fused-to-metal prosthesis.
