PROSTHETIC RESTORATION OF THE MAXILLA USING ZYGOMATIC IMPLANTS AND BIO-CAM PROSTHESIS<\/strong><\/span>
\nPatients who have been missing teeth for a long time and require an implant or prosthesis-based restoration usually have severe maxillary atrophy requiring treatment with advanced surgical and prosthetic techniques. This is the case study of a 74-year old male patient with severely atrophic mandibles that were restored with zygomatic implants and a Bio-CAM prosthesis.
\nAfter studying the case by way of photos, videos, wax-ups and stereolithographic models, a treatment plan for the maxilla was established consisting of the placement of 4 standard implants in the premaxilla and 2 posterior zygomatic implants. A plan including periodontal treatment and an anterior removable denture was established for the mandible.
\nFollowing implant placement, an immediate prosthesis was fitted. After 6 months, a permanent prosthesis designed by the laboratory and fabricated by Ticare’s Bio-CAM milling centre was fitted.
\nAfter 5 years, the prosthesis is stable with no signs of biological or mechanical complications.<\/p>\n
